This was the first attempt of me to write for classical orchestra after I had fun with three little pieces for solo-piano, which I had composed before. Keep in mind, that I had no experience with longer forms and orchestration. I was motivated by the boyfriend of my sister, Stefan Platte, a composer himself, who attended many competitions. So I wrote this piece for solo-piano and Orchestra for the Queen-Elisabeth-Competition in 2007. The composition contents a basic theme, which is divided in single bars. The formal principle works in the manner of adding after every repetition one bar more of the melody like 1 bar,2 bars,3 bars,4 bars etc. until mostly 10 bars. After building up the melody in the first part there comes the second part, when the piano is playing alone, which changes and modify the melody and its character. The last and third part features the melody again slightly modified build down from 10 to 1 like 10, 9, 8,7,6,5,4,3,2,1 bars. The music is influenced by classical composers like Liszt, Wagner but also Debussy and Ives and Ligeti.
More than ten years later I go back now to this composition, because first I was curious how it would hold up against my actual knowledge and taste. Second I felt sad to leave a work, which costed me more than one month to write, down in the basement collecting dust. I used three different sample-libraries for the recording:

I have recreated the piece as good as possible and corrected some minor faults in the score. Now listening to it I think there are some strong moments, but also some weak spots, but I encourage you to judge yourself.
